Hey everybody! If you are still reading this blog, I thank you! I apologize for my 3 month hiatus! You won’t believe all that has happened in that time! You know, when I started blogging, I really thought it would just be sitting down to write a couple times a day and that’s something I love to do. I had no idea about the technical stuff I would have to put in it as well! I think I’m finally at a point where I can give this blog the attention it deserves so thanks again for being patient and I hope to get this to be a popular place for moms to come for ideas or for a laugh! Now, as for these last 3 months…
First of all, have you ever had every single member of your family sick before? It is NOT fun! I don’t know what the deal was with this past winter but it seemed that everyone was sick and it was like the king of all colds that would NOT go away! First Preston got sick- coughing and nose running, running a 103 temp. Then I got the exact same thing a few days later but add in losing my voice completely! Next, Eric is complaining about his throat hurting. Preston starts feeling better then Trinity gets a fever, running nose, cough, etc. Took both kids to the doctor only to be told ($160 later) that it’s viral and I just need to let it run its course. Ok. About a week later, I’m starting to think we’re in the clear. Then one morning Preston starts complaining about his head hurting. I kinda blew it off because, let’s face it, he’s 3 and right now he likes to just make stuff all the time. Then, all of a sudden, he’s throwing up like crazy. I mean real adult vomit. I run over to him and he has a 103.7 temp. I call the doc office who tells me that he must just have the a stomach bug because that’s not the flu. Fever, nausea, vomiting, headache, chills… How is that NOT the flu? Anyway, so here I am holding a bowl up to my 3 year old who didn’t get off the couch ALL DAY (this alone scared me from my usually hyper little boy), all while trying to entertain the baby who I was also trying to keep a good distance from her sick brother! And, of course, this was one of those days that were super important at Eric’s work and there was absolutely no chance of him getting off to help me! Luckily, Trinity never caught it. Preston’s flu (which I’m positive it was) only lasted 24 hours so that was hard but quick. 2 days later I went through it followed by Eric 2 days after that! Once we were in the clear from the flu, the kids and I all got colds again. It was the craziest winter! I mean, we eat mostly healthy foods. We take our vitamins and drink a Juice Plus smoothie usually once a day. We do our best to keep a clean house. I just don’t know why it hit us so hard this year!!
Anyway, that was the majority of our February… Just being sick…
Then March came and our world changed.
First, Eric got a notice from his work that they were breaking contract with the hotel he was stationed at. He was told they would transfer him somewhere but we had no idea where. After 2 weeks, he started panicking and interviewing with anyone. Finally, he was offered 2 positions which would’ve been huge demotions for him plus we would have to move to areas where it would be hard for him to work his way back up. Let the panic fully set in. Then finally, our prayers were answered. Through a lot of word of mouth within the company, people heard about Eric’s situation and that he was a good, hard worker. The day before his last day, he got a call which became an interview which became a job offer from a huge hotel that would be a promotion in itself, plus had tons of room for growth. The only catch, we would have to move to Las Vegas!
So… Bye bye beach and hello desert.
Can we talk about a hectic time to move? All while getting our house ready to sell and our stuff ready to move, we had Easter, Trinity’s 1st birthday, my parents coming to visit (which they had bought tickets for LONG before any of this happened), our kids dedication, and my mother in laws 80th birthday! Let the chaos begin!
First we had Easter… Pretty laid back this year but we took the kids to church then went to my in laws. They set up a cute egg hunt in the yard and cooked a great meal! I brought my “famous” Deviled Eggs and we had a really nice day. Trinity also chose that day to take her first steps!!!
Then, 2 days later, came my little sunshine’s first birthday.
My parents flew in that day and we took her and her brother to an indoor playground. I’ve always been leary about those things and for good reason. That night, Trinity came down with what we believe was norovirus. The next day she had her one year checkup anyway so we told the doc her symptoms and he had us do a poop study. If you’ve never had to do one of these before, consider yourself extremely lucky. I literally had to scrape poop out of every diaper and put it in vials to take to the lab. It took a full week to fill the vials! In the meantime, my poor baby had the worst diaper rash I’ve ever seen! She was really sick for about 3 days before she started acting herself again. Happy Birthday, right?
We’ll she got a do over that weekend when we had her birthday party. It turned out awesome, if I do say so myself! Thank you Pinterest! It was so fun with a purple princess theme and everybody loved it!
Also that weekend, we had our babies dedicated at church which is such a special occasion. We really wanted to do it while my parents were in town and it was so amazing to have both sets of grandparents stand with us as we dedicated our children to the Lord and pledged to raise them as Christ taught us.
The week after the dedication, Eric drove his car out to Vegas and found us an apartment in the suburbs to live in temporarily while we sell our house and try to find a new one.
The day after he came home, we had to say good bye to our first house and we went to my in laws, who lived 1.5 hours away and graciously took us in for an entire week. Eric drove back to the house as we had movers come in and pack for us and load our stuff- a complete fiasco, if you ask me… But that’s a whole other story.
On April 17, the four of us left at 4am to go to the Tampa airport and at 1pm local time, we arrived in Las Vegas- so basically an 11 hour travel day with a 1 and 3 year old. WHEW!!!
After arriving, we checked into a hotel for a few days while we got acclimated to the area and got the keys to our apartment and waited for our moving truck. Once we realized that our moving truck was not going to be there when they told us, we hit up the store and bought some air mattresses, pillows, and sheets and camped out on the floor of our empty apartment. I’m sure some day I will look back on that experience fondly but right now, my back is still aching so that may take some time!
Anyway, we now have our furniture so we are able to start getting on a schedule. There is a whole new world for us to explore out there and I look forward to new adventures with my family. I’ll be sharing regularly so stay tuned for LOTS and LOTS more!!!
